I was given this pack of Das paper clay about 5 years ago and I’ve never really done anything with it other than prop my desk lol. So one day when I was bored I tinkered with it and tried to make a doll head. These pics are several weeks ago before I stuffed up my hand.
The first thing I did was used my Dollshe Saint Old Hound Body as a reference for size. I’ve stuck his torso part onto a box so I can turn it around while I work on the head because I didn’t have a lazy susan. Then I used a balsa wood stick which I wrapped with some foil to give me a ‘head start’ (still with the bad puns I’m sorry!)

I’ve been a little unwell lately, first my finger had a little surgery and then long hours at the office just makes me feel soooo sleepy when I come home so I haven’t been able to update this blog a lot 😦
I’ve pressed on though! This weekend’s paint work is on Le Legende De Temps ‘Neil’:

I recently visited the house in Jakarta that I grew up in until I was 14. It had been twenty years since I left it. My mother left my things exactly how I had them. It was like opening a time capsule. I had these precious toys, books and other personal effects, but how I remember them vivid with colours, they are now the complete opposite; stained, yellowed and moldy. Due to the humid and hot climate of Jakarta, not one thing survived. It was kind of sad finding them like that. I wonder if one day after I am gone, this doll that I once really liked would become stained, yellowed and moldy too. So i am taking his photos, hopefully whoever ends up with him would find these photos and can see how he once looked.
I’m actually glad I didn’t manage to sell these two heads. I bought them in February 2009 and I’ve had them for sale until a couple of weeks ago, lol. I’ve given them new faces and I really like them now, so they will stay with me until the end of time. Also, it seems that the open eyed Rihael head in normal skin tone is no longer produced by Leekeworld? I’m confused… I see in their web shop that there is a new version of the Rihael head, with slightly closed eyelids, but I’m not fond of it as much. Nothing wrong with it, I just prefer this face to have fully open starry puppy eyes.
So now I’m looking for bodies for them. I originally want a 60-65 cm body but most of them of that size have quite narrow shoulders and these being the 9-10 inch bigger heads, they really need the wider shoulder and height to make them look a bit more natural. So I’ve started looking at the 70 cm bodies (also with the idea that it would be easier for them to exchange clothes with my Dollshes).
Just my rotten luck, Dollshe had just announced that they’ve stopped producing the Old Hound bodies about 2 months ago, I’d have been happy with one of those in the Oriental colour. But then!! I fell upon the Sadol 70 Star body. The shoulders are 16 cm so that makes them a bit wider than the bodies you see them on in these pictures, so that would be perfect! I think the Sadol 70 Star body could benefit with a bit more detail in their sculpting, but I just love how natural they look when they bend (and they can sure bend! have a look here) it’s very reminiscent of the Old Hound body aaaand they have their own jointed fingers! Gaahh I want one, no… I want 2 please! One for Wren and one for Ellya…
Ellya was the golden child. He was smart, popular, loved by all, most of all by his younger brother Wren. It was hard living alongside someone so perfect, but nobody knew just what sort of pressure Ellya had to keep under control. Nobody knew how hard he worked to achieve all that he had, nobody ever saw his ugly side, never seen him snap… That is, until the zombies got to him and turned him into an undead. And then he was nothing but a blackened mass of rotting limbs and regrets.
They captured Ellya and turned him into a circus attraction, down at The Arena where he was made to fight other undead creatures. Due to his smallish stature and fast reactions, they dubbed him The Monkey.
