Song & Stories

It’s Autumn in Melbourne and I think it’s such a romantic season. I wanna share a gorgeous song “Towers” by Gretta Ray. She was only 17 and still in highschool when she produced this beautiful piece. There’s just so much to love about this song, from the fairy-tale like melodies, her beautiful voice and the witty lyrics. It’s a song about unrequited love, which to me is the most passionate kind of love affairs. All my characters are in this sort of relationship, lol. I think that to a degree everybody has unrequited love, it’s virtually impossible to love somebody with the exact same quantum as they love you, as long as we have different minds and perceptions. But it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Why should things be completely equal,  we might as well be robots controlled centrally. It’s the little degrees of differences that provide a chance for a person to complete what’s lacking in the other that I find is the true purpose of unrequitedness. It teaches you to understand, see another’s point of view, and be kind.

Another cool thing I want to share is a manga called “Fumetsu No Anata E” (translated: “To You, The Immortal”) by Yoshitoki Ooima. Myanime’s description of it (which sucks me right in): “a mysterious being was sent to the surface of the earth and met a boy living alone in the middle of a tundra”. From there on, it’s an adventure of discovery. It’s at times hilarious, other times very sad, but all the time it’s a great observation about life and humanity. It’s actually quite a deep philosophical story but the Sci-fi side and gorgeous artwork/characters really make it interesting to follow:

Review of Dollshe Arsene doll

Order date: 1st February 2017
Order shipped: 4th April 2017
Arrived at my door: 10th April 2017

There’s many reasons why I love the Dollshe Arsene:

(1) That face! It’s not exactly handsome, in fact it’s a little quirky and unusual, but that’s what makes it beautiful to me. I’m always attracted to things that are not overt or explicit. I think he has the potential to wear many different expressions. No kidding I really want to paint 100 Arsenes!

Painting Faceup Dollshe Arsene

Wow it’s official! The Dollshe Arsene is my most favourite doll. The face shape is very pleasing and versatile, you can turn him into a sweet character or a mature character. The resin from Dollshe is the best to paint and it’s available in so many different colours.

I hope to paint a hundred of them. That’s right, 100 Arsene faces!! Lol… I don’t know if it can be possible, but I can dream…

For now I’d just like to share with you all two that I’ve painted so far… (98 more to go!)

Dollshe Arsene Comparison Photos Venitu and Old Hound body

I’ve recently got my Dollshe Arsene (ordered on 1st February 2017 and arrived 10th April 2017). Oh my God… when I saw Arsene’s face I fell even harder! He’s soo beautiful! Most perfect face ever 🙂 where the Venitu to me is an image of strength and poise, I think the Arsene is an image of gentleness and vulnerability. They are both really lovely and compliment each other: like a Yin to a Yang.

I haven’t had a chance to paint mine yet, but I took some photos of him next for comparison purposes:

Left to right: Venitu by 5th Motif (Oriental), Arsene by Dollshe (Oriental) and Hound by Dollshe (Older Freshskin, at least 8 years old).
